KeyTray Backup
A truly human, easy-to-use, fair backup — built to withstand ransomware.
Built to withstand ransomware. Layer by layer.
KeyTray Backup copies the files on your Windows PCs, encrypted before they leave, and keeps every version. If ransomware encrypts a file, the encrypted copy becomes one more version: the good one is still there. We tell you plainly which protections are active today and which arrive in the next versions.
Encrypted on your PC
Files are encrypted before they leave the computer, with your own key custody.
Every version kept
A bad change or an encrypted file never replaces the last good copy: it is stored as a new version.
Each PC can only touch itself
A computer can act only on its own files, and nobody can delete versions — so one infected PC cannot wipe the others.
30-day retention, decided by the server
No version younger than 30 days is pruned, and only the server decides when older ones go.
Immutable cloud copies for 30 days
Copies locked in the cloud so that not even a compromised PC or server can delete or overwrite them.
Automatic detection and quarantine
Spotting ransomware patterns — decoy files, sudden mass changes, ransom notes — and stopping them from spreading to other PCs.
Point-in-time restore
Put a whole folder back exactly as it was before the attack.
We will only call each upcoming layer active after proving it against a ransomware simulator in our test lab. No backup can promise 100% — we promise to tell you exactly what is protected.
A truly human, easy-to-use, fair backup.
Human
Plain language, no jargon. It tells you what is protected and what is not, in the words you use.
Easy to use
A guided setup wizard: pick your folders and choose backup, sync or both. Then it works quietly in the background, from the tray.
Fair
Clear prices, no surprises: plans per PC for homes and per user for companies. Prices will be published before launch.
Two plans, one rule: no surprises.
Planned for both: a double backup, NAS at your office plus the cloud.
- Windows: client, background service and tray app
- Server on Linux, operated by SoftControl
In development In development: version 1.3 built and tested end to end; the first protection layers are active on the server.
Personal
- For homes and professionals
- Plans by number of PCs (for example 3 or 5)
- Optional copy to your own NAS
Corporate
- Per user, for companies that use KeyTray
- One account for all the companies of the KeyTray owner
- Users sign in with their KeyTray user
What it is
KeyTray Backup protects the files on your Windows PCs. Choose folders to back up, to sync between computers, or both. Files are encrypted on your PC before they leave it, unchanged files are skipped, and each file keeps a history of versions so a bad change — or a file encrypted by ransomware — never replaces the last good copy.
Already active on the server: each PC can only act on its own files, nobody can delete versions, and no version younger than 30 days is pruned. The approved roadmap adds immutable cloud copies for 30 days, automatic ransomware detection with quarantine and point-in-time restore — each one announced only after it is proven against a ransomware simulator.
Who it is for
- Homes and professionals (Personal plans by number of PCs, optional NAS)
- Companies that use KeyTray (Corporate plan per user, sign-in with the KeyTray user)
